We chatted to newlywed Lisa about the finer details of her French escape.

Why did you choose a destination wedding?
Why not! France – French Champagne and amazing French food in a château.

Why did you decide on Château la Durantie?
My dad found it we fell in love with it straight away.

How many guests and where did they stay?
41 people travelled from Australia to France. We were blessed! We provided the accommodation for our guests at the chateau.

Did you have any pre-ceremony activities?
Many! A whole week of activities – poker nights, pool parties, wine tours, sit-down French dinners and barbeques.

What theme or style did you base your decorations on?
French Provincial white and glass/mirrored.

Tell us about your marquee reception…
I had a big U-shaped long table facing the dance floor, all white flowers, and candles with acrylic name place seatings that matched the wedding invites. We had a five-course French meal with Moët & Veuve Champagne.

What was your wedding highlight?
Our parents surprised us with fireworks on the terrace… amazing!

Did you honeymoon in the same location?
My husband organised the honeymoon as I organised the wedding. We went to Paris, Mykonos, Santorini, Barcelona and London.
