What do you think is the most important question every bride should ask potential venues?

‘What is your minimum spend in food and beverage?’ The answer to this question will give you a very quick indication of whether the venue is within your budget or not

How would you describe your location?

Elevated, riverfront, contemporary, incomparable!

How do you assist the couple with their planning?

We work with our couples in the logistical planning of their reception and can certainly offer lots of great tips for ceremony planning also.  We encourage our couples to refer suppliers directly to us with questions about access and timings if they like and we’re always happy to assist our couples with planning advice and tips when they call or email us during their reception planning process.

Can couples have their ceremony at Moda, and if so, what’s the best location?

We can do ceremonies one level down in the Dendy Cinema which is such a modern and unique twist.  More and more couples opt for it because everyone gets a really comfortable seat, its wet weather safe and has fantastic climate control for any time of year!

Do you have a favourite wedding story you like to tell?

One of my couples weren’t sure about whether to invest in videography for their special day and they’re so glad they did because they went on to have a son who had separation anxiety when mummy and daddy would go out (raving tantrums!). They thought to play their wedding video as they were saying good-bye one day and their son was so taken with it that he sat and watched silently and it worked every time after that to sooth the farewell.

What is the most popular time for weddings at Moda Events Portside?

September/October is a beautiful time for weddings at Moda because humidity is low so no-one is shiny when they have arrival photos enjoying canapés and drinks on our private balcony!

What sort of cuisine do you offer?

French-inspired contemporary Australian.

What gives Moda the ‘wow’ factor?

Do you have a top wedding tip you’ d like to share with couples?

Don’t let wedding planning discussions consume your relationship. Choose one night a week to be ‘wedding planning night’ where you set that time aside to chat about all things wedding. Both parties are emotionally prepared for it and the time is limited, plus this gives you both something to prepare for with your researching each week.  If parents or friends want to contribute to the wedding planning then invite them to come along one week to give their two cents worth… outside of this, keep wedding talk light and minimal because it might otherwise send you both mad!
