Tiaras and Top Hats

Proposal
After 8 years together, I decided enough was enough and took matters into my own hands, and expressed to my boyfriend my desire to get married, we both agreed it was time to tie the knot and for someone who was relectant to propose, he was such an integral part of the planning and preparations for our big day.

Funniest Moment
All of the guests were given top hats and tiaras when they arrived. As walked down the aisle I saw a sea of people all dressed in their black and white outfits as requested on our invitations and I saw one of my friends, whom I have known since grade one in a puffy sleeved eighties wedding dress with a top hat...I looked across and her boyfriend was wearing the tiara...I burst out laughing and when I calmed down we started the ceremony.

Special Memory
I think when my 'bridesmaid' - my 10 year old toy pomeranian, started barking during the ceremony...she wouldn't stop so I bent down and picked her up and we continued on with the wedding, with her in my arms, it was very sweet.

Special Thanks
To my wonderful Mum who altered my dress until it fitted like a glove, she also made the puppies outfits and kept me from becoming a bridezilla during the wedding planning process. She also told me not to worry about what other people thought of what we wanted our special day to be and in the end it was our special 'funny' touches that made it so special.

Advice / Comments
Involve your partner and plan it together, as it brought us even closer together and we enjoyed the day immensely. Also try to express your personalities in your day and don't stress out about not necessarily having to follow tradition. Most of all, remember to smile!
