Just Married: Erin + Mick

  |

We all know that wedding planning can be a tedious task, but what if you only had nine days to do it all? For Erin and Mick, this nightmare of a situation led to their dream wedding.

Originally planning to say “I do” in the Whitsundays, the two had everything planned… then Cyclone Debbie hit. “I received the phone call that no bride ever wants to receive – that our original venue was no longer able to host our wedding,” recalls Erin. “The majority of our guests were travelling via Brisbane to get to our wedding, so we decided to relocate to the city and try and have it on the same date but at a different place.” Impossible? We thought so too. But luckily for Erin and Mick, Tennyson’s Garden at The Brisbane Golf Club made it happen.

With the goal of finding a venue with picturesque gardens, accommodation for guests, delicious food and – perhaps most importantly – availability, Mick came to the rescue. “My (now) husband found Tennyson’s Garden at The Brisbane Golf Club and made contact with Lauren, the events manager,” says Erin. “Right from the very first point of contact she was very supportive and made us believe we could pull it all together.”

Skip to just nine (yes, nine) days later, and everything was ready just in time – with a lot of help from the couple’s friends and family. “They managed to get flowers, a hairdresser, the cake and even a vintage car organised,” says Erin. Now that’s teamwork. Also receiving plenty of support from her events manger, Erin shared a very special moment with Lauren right before the ceremony. “Lauren took me up to the Tennyson Room where we were going to have our reception, just to give me a little sneak peek. I burst into tears because it was in that moment that I realised that everything happens for a reason.”

Wiping away the happy tears, Erin tied the knot with Mick in a touching ceremony before celebrating with loved ones. Enjoying plenty of incredible food and great music, the two partied the night away and reflected on what was an amazing day. “I spent 20 months planning what was going to be our dream island wedding – then it was all blown away,” reflects Erin. “But our wedding at Tennyson’s Garden at The Brisbane Golf Club actually turned out to be a different dream come true.”
