How did you meet?

We met over 15 years ago but the timing wasn’t right so we decided to part ways. Luckily our paths crossed again 10 years later and we knew we’d been given a second chance. We’ve been inseparable ever since!

Tell us about the proposal…

This perfect moment will forever be etched in my memory. Damian proposed at our favourite Hotel the Palazzo Versace, Gold Coast. After a relaxing afternoon laying in the cabana sipping cocktails around the pool he took me to a candlelit room adorned with a bubble bath, scattered rose petals, Champagne on ice and chocolate fondue with fresh strawberries. I was thinking this is as good as it gets, then Damian got down on one knee and made it even better!

Why did you choose Gip’s Restaurant for your wedding?

We’ve both lived in Toowoomba for most our lives so it’s a very special place for us and it felt right to be married there. We chose Gip’s Restaurant because we love the casual yet sophisticated dining it offers in beautiful garden surrounds. The huge old English Oak trees and Jacaranda trees bathed in lights created an amazing ambiance and we felt the venue really reflected our personality as a couple.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

We both headed to the Gold Coast with our friends for a fun weekend away.

Key Styling Inspiration

I wanted a summer wedding with relaxed, boho luxe elements. The gardens at Gip’s Restaurant are stunning so I drew on them for inspiration, incorporating the natural beauty of the summer season.

Where did you splurge and where did you save on for your wedding?

We splurged on makeup and photography knowing we’d want to look back on our wedding day and remember it as one of the most special days of our lives. We also splurged on a bottle of Grange for our vow renewal capsule that we will open on our 10th wedding anniversary.

Hiring a stylist for our ceremony was also a good decision as we didn’t have to worry about setting up the site and our floral backdrop was a big talking point on the day that also really enhanced our photos.

What gifts did you give your guests?

Our guests received small individual cakes to take home with them.

What was the most special memory from the day?

There were so many special moments but having my dad and my two boys walk me down the aisle to the love of my life is a beautiful memory. It might sound strange but I will also always remember the weather that day. It was rainy and overcast up until our ceremony when the heavens opened and the sun shone down on us for the rest of the day!

What did you do for your honeymoon?

We got married very close to Christmas so we decided to have a quick little get away at the Gold Coast to celebrate and are planning to take a honeymoon towards the end of this year.

Special thanks to…

Our family and friends. Their love, laughter and support on the day helped to make our wedding unforgettable. We’d like to give a massive thank you to our wonderful parents for being so supportive throughout the planning stages. My maid of honour also deserves a special thanks for organising my surprise bridal shower with all of my nearest and dearest… What a surprise it was!!

What advice would you give other brides-to-be?

Try not to get caught up in the insignificant details. If things go wrong or you start to stress just focus on what the day is really about, marrying the man you love and spending your lives together as husband and wife.
