Couple Real Weddings

Real Wedding: Courtney & Stuart

After a romantic proposal (under the Eiffel Tower no less!) Courtney & Stuart Smith returned to Brisbane to celebrate at two character-filled venues. The historic charms of Old Government House were perfect for “I do” while the State Library was the ideal modern choice to complement their classic, elegant styling. Courtney created a custom bridal ensemble, sourcing a Babushka Ballerina skirt to wear over her Anna Campbell gown. The result? Simply stunning!

How did you meet?

Through mutual friends seven years ago!

Tell us about the proposal…

Stuart proposed in Paris under the Eiffel Tower.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

Our friends and bridal party did a great job planning our hens and bucks night. I had a high tea, followed by manicures and then a night out. Stuart had a BBQ with the boys followed by a night out.

Why did you choose Old Government House and The State Library Queensland for your wedding?

Both of our venues had a lot of character. I liked that they were different.

Key Styling Inspiration

Our colour theme was mint green, silver and white. I wanted everything to be classic and elegant. I saw a picture with limes in vases which was my inspiration for the centrepieces.

What gifts did you give your guests?

Cake boxes to fill with cake, mini desserts, macaroons and personalised candy.

What was the funniest moment from the day?

Every speech had its funny moments.

What was the most special memory from the day?

The whole day!

What did you do for your honeymoon?

Hawaii, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

What advice would you give other brides-to-be?

I’m not very creative or crafty so I think hiring a stylist was one of the best decisions we made! It made the whole lead up so stress free and easy, knowing that someone else was taking care of all the little details. When I walked in to the reception – everything was better than I ever could have imagined!
