Real Wedding: Grace and Chris

  |

The heritage splendor of Brisbane City Hall held an irresistible charm for Grace Mahoney and Christopher Maher. We love their fresh take on ‘modern classic’ styling, bringing the outdoors in with lush greenery and florals and accenting with hits of silver and grey for their winter wedding. It’s tradition… with a twist.

How did you meet?

At a mutual friends engagement party but didn’t begin dating for another year.

Tell us about the proposal…

For our second anniversary (on Valentines Day!) we traveled to Hayman Island. Chris had arranged a beautiful morning spent at the resort day spa. That evening he surprised me with a ‘private dining’ experience, he proposed over dinner in a private cabana over the water.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

For my hens weekend we traveled to Daylesford in Victoria. We hired a cute little house and loved exploring. We spent an entire day at the Hepburn Bathhouse and Spa.

Key Styling Inspiration

A modern classic winter wedding. Our vision was for abundant florals and a soft, season-appropriate colour palette without being too feminine.

What was the funniest moment of the day?

The MC’s welcome.

What was the most special memory from the day?

One of our favourite memories of the night was walking into our reception room. When we walked in our favourite song was playing and the styling and details were better than we had dreamed of. We were totally speechless.  It was so wonderful to spend a few moments together alone for the very first time as a married couple and take it all in.

Special thanks to…

I cannot rave about The Main Event Weddings enough,  Cassie and the team are full of ideas, prepared for anything, extremely professional and utterly delightful. It was so reassuring to know they had everything under control and were only a phone call away during those uncertain moments. When problems arose I was none the wiser until they had found a solution.

What advice would you give other brides-to-be?

Take some time alone together prior to the reception and take everything in. The day goes by so quickly!
