How did you meet?

Robby and I met quite a few times before we even spoke. We had seen each other out and about through mutual friends. To be honest, I thought he was a snob but also quite handsome. One of my girlfriends had tried to set me up with him over and over but I kept saying ‘no’. Eventually I gave in and we haven’t spent more than five days apart since!

Tell us about the proposal…

During a holiday to Cairns, Robby let me out onto a wooden jetty overlooking the ocean, under the stars and knelt down on one knee. He promised we would be best friends forever. It was perfect.

Why did you choose Boomerang Farm Golf Course for your wedding?

I knew that I wanted an old wooden barn for my reception. The Boomerang Farm gave me that, and a beautiful ceremony space on an old wooden deck in the middle of a rainforest! I really loved that I could have the ceremony and the reception at the same venue.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

I rented out a gorgeous holiday mansion in Broadbeach Waters for a girls week! We had different activities planned throughout the week including pampering, a club crawl and a beach day.

DIY Details

I did a lot of the small things myself, including invitations, the table seating and the programs. Not to mention baking mini banana bread and brownies for each of the guests!

Key Styling Inspiration

I loved the rustic garden theme. With wild flowers and old timber tables with pops of glam like our chandelier.

Where did you splurge on and where did you save on for your wedding?

I knew right from the beginning that the only two things I wanted to spurge on our photographer and videographer. That was one thing I wanted to spend the extra cash on. I would rather budget on other less important things like the cake. All through the wedding planning, my little helpers kept asking about the cake, and to be honest I really didn’t care at all. I was quite happy to go to the local bakery the morning of! Fortunately, a friend of a friend was able to swoop in and save the day with her amazing cake! She was so cheap too!

What was the funniest moment of the day?

After I had finished walking down the aisle and looked at Robby, I said out loud “aw… I wanna kiss him now!” Oops!

The MC called up one of the groomsmen to say the first speech and he had nothing planned. He still managed to get the whole room laughing.

What was the most special memory from the day?

After the ceremony, as any bride would know, you become surrounded by people! It’s almost as if you don’t even get a moment to let what just happened sink in! Our photographer took us away to a private space away from everyone and said “take a moment for yourselves”. It was perfect. Just us, as if the rest of the world didn’t exist. Little did we know she was photographing us, and these are such special keepsakes.

What did you do for your honeymoon?

Robby and I went on a three month trip across Europe, Canada and America. We left the day after our wedding.

What advice would you give other brides-to-be?

Say a speech! I really regret not saying a speech. There were so many people that I wanted to thank, and sometimes I feel like a thank you card doesn’t cut it.
