Couple Real Weddings

Real Wedding: Jessica & Michael

Jessica and Michael’s love of the beach (and each other!) were combined when they wed in the romantic Whitsunday Islands. The couple became Mr and Mrs in the aptly named Lovers Cove on Daydream Island – cute! After celebrating long into the night with family and friends, the pair headed off to Hamilton Island for a luxurious tropical honeymoon.

How did you meet?

Through mutual friends

Tell us about the proposal…

We went to Five Rocks (a beautiful beach near Yeppoon that you can only get to with a 4WD) for the day as we were going there with friends to celebrate my birthday. Michael had some of our friends arrive a few hours before us – we stopped at a lookout which overlooked the beach and in the sand he had written ‘marry me Jess’ it was so romantic and absolutely perfect! I had my two best friends with me and all of our friends were waiting down on the beach as they had been there earlier to write the proposal into the sand.

Why did you choose Daydream Island for your wedding?

It was the first place we went on a holiday together over seven years ago.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

The bucks party was at Stanage Bay for a boys fishing trip for five days. And the hens party was in our hometown of Rockhampton at a nightclub full of fun games and too many drinks.

DIY Details

I did a lot of research on Etsy to personalise our wedding.

Key Styling Inspiration

The Island is so beautiful I didn’t have to do too much but I wanted a relaxed beach feel.

What did you splurge on and what did you save on for your wedding?

We saved money on lots of little things that we didn’t need as we had a cocktail-style function.

What was the funniest moment of the day?

Playing the shoe game at the reception.

What was the most special memory from the day?

After the ceremony we got a few minutes to ourselves and take everything all in – it was absolutely perfect.

What did you do for your honeymoon?

We went to Hamilton Island and relaxed on the beach.

Special thanks to…

All of our family and friends and the staff at Daydream Island, they were amazing.

What advice would you give other brides-to-be?

It’s only about you and your husband to be so don’t sweat the small stuff you don’t even remember it your too busy having a great time. And the day goes so fast take a few minutes with your husband to enjoy it all.
