Couple Real Weddings

Real Wedding: RoseMae & Andrew

RoseMae & Andrew Davis were always drawn to the amazing views and lush surrounds of Maleny and their first visit to House of Laurels sealed the deal. Breathtaking backdrops galore, reception and ceremony in one spot, and even onsite guest accommodation… perfect! Decorated with a touch of vintage shabby chic, their celebration played off the venue’s crisp white and glorious green palette to magical effect.

How did you meet?

We didn’t think this could happen but we met at a night club of all places.

Tell us about the proposal…

Andrew proposed in our new house six months after we moved in. He planned a romantic dinner on a Saturday night in June 2012. He even had one of my girlfriends Ang to help him by getting me out of the house for half an hour or so to give him time to lay rose petals and tea light candles throughout the house. I had no idea and it was so perfect and romantic!

What did you do for your hens and bucks nights?

Andrew and his mates went clay pigeon shooting then attended Oktoberfest. My girlfriends and I stayed at the Hilton Gold Coast had high tea and went out for dinner and drinks afterwards.

Why did you choose House of Laurels for your wedding?

House of Laurels was the perfect place for our garden/vintage style wedding and we love Maleny.

Where did you splurge and where did you save?

Splurged on a Darb Bridal wedding dress and we saved on a few decorations – Andrew made the wedding cake stand and seating chart (out of an old Queenslander window)

 Key Styling Inspiration

Vintage shabby chic with a burst of bright colours.

DIY Details

Our wedding invites, table numbers, menus and place cards were made by my mother-in-law Sue, I also got alot of inspiration from pinterest on decoration ideas.

What gifts did you give your guests?

We gave our guests rosemary plants from Flourish Bomboniere with a note attached saying ‘All things grow with love’

 Special Thanks to…

To our MC/close friend – Ben Gray (he’s a natural and made the night fun). Also to my maid of honour, Lynette for organising my bridal shower and hens along with Ang, my other bridesmaid who also made our amazing and delicious wedding cake.

Any advice for other brides-to-be?

Be organised and don’t be to indecisive – make a decision and stick to it. Planning was made easier because we knew what we wanted right from the start.
