Real Wedding: Tyleah and Josh

  |

Relaxed elegance was the order of the day for Tyleah and Josh, and what better theme for a Gold Coast wedding? The pair exchanged vows at the gorgeous Ecostudio Fellini, surrounded by their friends and family – all of whom contributed to the big day in some way. (Our favourite part? The bride’s divine convertible gown, which was a bit of a surprise for her groom!)

How did you meet?

We worked in the same building and were introduced by a college of mine who was also a friends with Josh.

Tell us about the proposal…

We were in Queenstown, New Zealand with friends when Josh proposed at the top of a mountain while we were skiing.

Why did you choose Ecostudio Fellini for your wedding?

We had our heart set on the Gold Coast hinterland. We were initially going to view another venue however we saw Ecostudio Fellini on the way there and as soon as we looked at it we knew it was perfect for us.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

The girls organised a lunch for me with my closest friends then we went out to dinner. Josh and the boys played golf and then went to the casino for a night out on the town.

DIY Details

Everyone contributed to the day in some way or another which was great. We supplied several items to the venue so there were a lot of personal little touches.

Key Styling Inspiration

We wanted something simple and classic yet with bursts of colour throughout. Our main aim was to create a relaxed environment for our guests.

Where did you splurge and where did you save on your wedding?

We thought that capturing our wedding memories was the most important thing so we decided to splurge on an amazing photographer and videographer. Because of the layout of the venue we decided that we didn’t need to hire cars for the bridal party. We only used one car for myself because of the size of my dress!

What gifts did you give your guests?

We wanted to give our guests something unique and memorable with ‘our style’ so each person received a vintage crystal wine glass to take home.

What was the funniest moment of the day?

Josh’s reaction when he realised that I had taken my skirt off from the ceremony and had another dress on underneath!

What was the most special memory from the day?

The one that stands out is when we had our first dance and everyone else joined in. When we look back on the photos and watching the video, everyone looks so happy and it was so much fun being surrounded by family and friends.

What did you do for your honeymoon?

We spent an amazing week in Hanoi, Vietnam and then a week in Phuket, Thailand.

What advice would you give to future brides-to-be?

Have fun and don’t let the planning process get you too stressed. Sometimes the whole process can seem overwhelming with the decisions and budgeting however you want to look back on your wedding experience and feel like you enjoyed every single step. The day goes so fast that remember to grab your husband even if it’s just for 10 minutes and have time together.
