If you ask us, the Sunshine Coast Hinterland would easily have to be one of Queensland’s most dreamy wedding locations. So when the talents at Serenity Photography Studios showed us this enchanting wedding that took place at Flaxton Gardens, we had to share it with you. We talked to the lovely Ana from Serenity, who captured all the sweet memories from the day.
For groom James, tying the knot in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland had special meaning. After growing up in the region, he married the gorgeous Shen in an elegant ceremony with a meaningful touch. Honouring Shen’s Taiwanese background, the two included a traditional tea ceremony in their nuptials – a moment Ana loved capturing. “During the tea ceremony, Shen and James presented a cup of sweet tea to each of their parents,” explains Ana. “I absolutely loved that! I just love personal, natural moments.”
After saying “I do,” the two roamed the iconic One Tree Hill paddock on a photo shoot adventure, taking in the scenic views… and avoiding a few ‘obstacles’. “The whole area was full of cow poo,” laughs Ana. “I was taking care of the bride and minding her dress and shoes – but as a photographer I rarely watch for those things for myself, so I stepped in it a few times and we just laughed and made fun of it!” A photographer that literally ‘puts their foot in it’ to protect the bride’s dress gets mad props from us.
Returning to Flaxton Gardens (with newly cleaned shoes) for the newlyweds’ rustic-chic reception, Ana joined James and Shen for a night full of smiles and unforgettable moments. “The whole day was amazing,” says Ana, “I can’t wait to go back there… minus the ‘surprises’!”
