Just Married: Gigi + Luke

Ah, Paris, the city of love. It was in this romantic destination that their love story began, back in 2010.

Still full of wanderlust, the couple were on a beach holiday in Coolum six years later when Luke planned a beautifully simple surprise. “Luke’s always said that he finds the things we do normally as a couple really romantic,” says Gigi. “I was midway through a crossword and a glass of Champagne when he asked me to marry him. I was very surprised!”

For any brides (or grooms) out there feeling the pressure of wedding planning, spare a thought for Gigi and Luke. When a date was offered at their dream destination of Preston Peak Winery in Toowoomba, they took a chance and booked it – leaving them just two months to plan everything. What they achieved in that short amount of time is nothing short of spectacular.

A stunning hinterland venue with sprawling mountain views, Preston Peak was the perfect setting for a relaxed celebration with plenty of sentimental touches. Wearing her mother’s veil and dressed in a seriously gorgeous dress with old-world vibes, Gigi walked up the aisle to a special bagpipe performance by her dad. So sweet.

After saying “I do”, she and Luke partied the night away with their 98 guests, enjoying hours of great music and delicious food.
“We were both determined to stay true to ourselves and to just enjoy the day,” says Gigi. “The look was laid-back and outdoorsy but polished, which we absolutely loved.”

The most special memory for the couple was “the overflowing dance floor,” says Gigi. “At the end we played ‘All my Friends’ by LCD Soundsystem (a real banger), and sang and danced before spilling out into the courtyard to say our goodbyes.”

Any advice for brides-to-be? “You won’t remember all the little things – what’s important is who was there and whether you as a couple got to enjoy yourselves.”
