Having something in common can be the basis for a great relationship. For Marina and Sandi, it was their mutual disenchantment of being dragged along to a night out. They struck up a conversation and ended up talking and dancing for hours – until they were kicked out at closing time! An unexpected buy romantic end to a reluctant night of partying.
The Gold Coast couple quickly fell in love, and then one day, while visiting an art gallery with her siblings on a trip to Melbourne, Marina was surprised by a unique artwork with the words “Marina, will you marry me?” on its plaque. We’re not sure how he got that past security, but a round of applause goes to Sandi for pulling off this elaborate proposal!
Two years later, the couple chose to celebrate their special day at Brisbane’s dazzling Cloudland – a setting that created a whimsical ambience. “Cloudland took our breath away and transported us into a different world,” says Marina. After saying “I do” in the venue’s Moon Room, Marina and Sandi joined their guests for a glamorous reception in Cloudland’s Heritage Room, decked out with glittering chandeliers. “As the venue is so opulent and every corner so intricately decorated, we opted for a ‘less is more’ approach for the styling,” she explains.
Before a few hilarious speeches and dancing to an acoustic version of Calvin Harris’s ‘Feel So Close,’ the newlyweds treated their guests to a special movie during dinner. “It told our love story with clips from our favourite movies and Disney cartoons, as well as our own photos,” says Marina. “The whole day was just like this – emotional, dreamlike and completely magical.”
