Why the Greek Club was the ultimate venue for Catherine’s big guest list

For event manager Catherine, her wedding to the lovely Michael was both an exciting event and, well, a challenging one. “We both have big families and needed somewhere that would hold a large amount of people,” says Catherine. “We also needed to find somewhere with a big dance floor space – us Greeks love to dance.” Enter: The Greek Club.

After meeting through mutual friends and striking up a conversation about travel tips, Catherine and Michael quickly fell in love and became engaged on a romantic trip to the Hunter Valley. Planning a very special surprise of another kind, Michael popped the question aboard a scenic hot air balloon ride – which would have been utterly beautiful if Catherine wasn’t afraid of heights. “Once we were in the air my fears went away and the view was amazing,” admits Catherine. “As we passed a particular area, I looked to my right and there on a pontoon was a sign that read “Will you marry me?” I cried and cried of excitement and had to tell myself to be careful or I could of fallen out of the basket.” Yeah… that would’ve been awkward.

Dressed in a gorgeous dress designed by a close family friend, Catherine met a very dapper Michael at the St George Greek Orthodox Church on 14 May, 2016 and the two tied the knot in front of 260 of their closest loved ones. Catherine really wasn’t joking when she said they had big families.

Celebrating in fabulous style, the newlyweds and their guests relocated the party just next door to the beautifully decorated Greek Club. “Our styling for our wedding was modern, classic and romantic,” says Catherine. “I know that after doing many events less is more. I wanted to concentrate on our colour plate, including black, white, gold and pops of hot pink. The main stand out of our wedding was the two tier floral chandelier that hung from our ceiling surrounded by fairy lights.” Sounds – and looks – like the perfect night to us.
