Today’s brides aren’t dressing just for the aisle; with the rise of the multi-look wedding gown, one of the biggest shifts in wedding fashion. And it’s within this space that Michelle Higgins from Ivory & White is carving out her place. From engagement and hens’ night looks to ceremony, reception, and dance-ready numbers, this Brisbane-based fashion label has an ever-changing collection of gowns made for laughing, hugging, dancing, and staying up long after the speeches end.

Rather than designing gowns that feel precious or restrictive, Ivory & White creates dresses built for real celebrations, taking into account the modern wedding trends, with a focus on silhouettes that allow you to move, fabrics that feel effortless, and designs that feel just as good on the dance floor as they do in photos.

More Than One Dress, More Than One Moment

When Michelle created Ivory & White, her philosophy was simple: a wedding isn’t one moment, so why should there be only one dress? She encourages brides to curate a wardrobe that reflects each stage of the celebration, believing that the growing “two-dress” approach (one look for the ceremony, another for the party) isn’t about excess, but instead about freedom, comfort, and self-expression.

And the broader bridal world is catching up, with the switch to a bridal mini now the norm rather than a novelty, highlighting that weddings are becoming richer, more layered experiences.

Ivory & White’s approach goes beyond design, with their insider-style dress experiences that are intentionally intimate and relaxed, offering brides early access to collections and fittings that feel more like a celebration than an appointment.

If you want your wedding dress to be beautiful, practical, expressive, and fun all at once, you’ll want to visit Ivory & White at their Brisbane studio!

Exciting News 2026: Owner, Michelle, has recently been taken under the mentor wing of Queensland industry fashion icon, Wendy Makin, from the well-known and respected Wendy Makin Bridal Designs label. With more than 30 years designing for brides and a reputation recognised across Australia, New Zealand, and the UK, Wendy is widely regarded as one of the greats of Australian bridal fashion, retiring from the industry in February 2026 after a truly remarkable career.

In their retirement, Wendy and her husband Geoff have chosen to share their wealth of industry knowledge with Michelle, helping to guide Ivory & White’s journey forward. For Michelle, having the guidance of two such respected industry figures is an incredible asset as Ivory & White continues to grow and make its mark on the Australian bridal scene.
