Remember losing it over the aquamarine rock (once owned by Princess Diana) that Meghan wore to her reception? That’s basically how we feel about alternative engagement rings. Can’t. Get. Enough.

While a diamond solitaire will always keep its sparkle, we’re loving unique engagement rings with more colour, vintage settings and a variety of shapes. Hooray! Think blush-pink sapphires, rubies, emeralds, parti sapphires (featuring two or three colours in one stone), and even home-grown opals.
Rocking a halo setting, where smaller stones surround a dominant centre stone, is a great way to play with colour, as you can have a colourful centre stone surrounded by diamonds or vice versa. An honourable mention goes to oval and emerald shapes which look set to continue their steady rise (thanks Blake, Amal, Hailey & Princess Kate). And the one we didn’t see coming? Yellow gold. Yes, warm-toned settings have staged a comeback, and we’re smitten.
