After years in Shanghai, framed by the glittering skyline of China’s biggest city, Brooke and Connor longed for something gentler: a celebration wrapped in nature, quiet charm, and fresh country air. Their micro wedding unfolded in the beautiful surrounds of White Chapel Kalbar, where the quaint, lovingly restored chapel sits alongside Black Hall and lush garden lawns. The fairytale grounds offered the perfect blend of country nostalgia and modern elegance, creating an intimate haven for their heartfelt celebration.

Among the millions who call the megacity of Shanghai home, Brooke and Connor’s paths crossed in the most serendipitous of ways. Brooke, enchanting audiences as an entertainer at Shanghai Disney Resort, and Connor, inspiring young minds as an English teacher, somehow found themselves living just streets apart. Between chance encounters in bustling grocery aisles and shared visits to cozy restaurants, a beautiful connection began to blossom amidst the hum of city life.

Wedding-Brooke and Connor, Scenic RimFrom the very beginning, there was an undeniable spark; a quiet connection that felt both effortless and extraordinary. Still, in those early days, Brooke placed Connor carefully in the ‘friend zone,’ building a friendship first before letting romance weave its way in.

Brooke’s life in China revolved around short-term Disney contracts, but when it became clear that renewal was not on the horizon, she found herself at a crossroads. It was then that Connor, ever steady and sure, gently said, “We should be making plans together as this isn’t temporary.” A simple sentence, yet one that changed everything. From that moment, their dreams intertwined, and the question became not if they would build a life together, but where?

Their hearts weighed the options: the misty charm of Connor’s beloved UK, or the sun-drenched warmth of Brooke’s Australia. Having never been Down Under, Connor’s adventurous spirit won out; he was ready to take a leap of faith and continue their story on new soil. When he finally arrived in Australia, he joined Brooke at her parents’ home, embracing family life with the same grace and warmth that had first won her heart.

Ever the true English gentleman, Connor asked both her mum and dad for their blessing to marry her — a gesture that touched them deeply. He already had the perfect ring, one he had designed himself and lovingly crafted in America before being shipped home.

In true Connor fashion, his proposal was thoughtful, heartfelt, and beautifully timed. On August 10th (the same date they had first said “I love you” years before), they wandered together through the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens. Beside a tranquil lake, Connor knelt, read a heartfelt speech, and asked Brooke to be his wife.

Afterwards, they strolled through a charming path known as Fig Tree Lawn to capture their engagement photos. To mark the moment, Connor gifted Brooke a delicate bonsai fig tree — a living symbol of their love, rooted and growing, just like the trees that had surrounded them that day.

Wedding-Brooke and Connor, Scenic RimBrooke and Connor embraced simplicity and serenity in their wedding plans. They wanted a day that reflected who they truly were: relaxed, heartfelt, and stress-free. In doing so, they followed a beautiful new trend: the Micro Wedding. With a guest list of just twenty-five of their dearest family and friends, their celebration became an intimate gathering filled with love, laughter, and meaningful moments.

Their venue offered the perfect package with everything inclusive, from photography and flowers to the celebrant, cake, and champagne. This allowed them to focus on what truly mattered: each other. It was a day of effortless joy, beauty, and calm.

Wedding-Brooke and Connor, Scenic RimBrooke’s gown carried a story of its own. Having once been a real-life Disney princess during her time performing at Shanghai Disney, she knew exactly what she wanted in her bridal dress. And who better to bring that vision to life than her own mother? Owner of a world-renowned boutique tutu atelier, whose creations have graced international stages and museum displays, she was the only person Brooke could imagine trusting with her gown. The result was nothing short of magical: a handcrafted masterpiece woven with love, legacy, and grace.

Wedding-Brooke and Connor, Scenic RimConnor looked every bit the dashing groom in his MJ Bale suit, which was a little indulgence, but a perfect one. After all, as Brooke said with a smile, “Why shouldn’t the groom be spoiled too?”

True to their thoughtful approach, Brooke and Connor found charming ways to make the day uniquely theirs without extravagance and Brooke was effusive in her praise for the talented vendors who helped bring their dream to life, with SJ from Little Paws Brisbane, Anne from Tutu Couture and Stage Wear, Casey from Inc. Mil Photography, and Ange and Kas from the White Chapel Kalbar, each adding their own touch of perfection to the day.

Breaking from tradition, the couple skipped the bridal waltz and opted for comfort over formality. Brooke traded her white heels for sneakers and danced the night away in blissful comfort. Yet perhaps the sweetest surprise of the day came in the form of their beloved dog, Marmite. Dressed in a tiny tuxedo with a personalised ring box on his bow tie, Marmite proudly trotted down the aisle as their ring bearer. With perfect timing, he ran straight toward the couple, stood patiently as they retrieved the rings, then happily made his way to greet guests.

Wedding-Brooke and Connor, Scenic RimReflecting on their day, Brooke and Connor said it best: “Our wedding was exactly that; our wedding. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Ignore everyone else’s advice and trust your gut! You know what will make you both happy. Go into the wedding the same way you go into marriage; as a team.”
