Our longtime love affair with garden weddings means we couldn’t go past Braeside at Gin House Creek Estate. This glorious two-acre escape is just minutes from the Gold Coast beaches and comes with a gem of a chapel. Through the glorious timber doors, you’ll find classic wooden pews with seating for up to 90 guests, an antique signing table, arched windows overlooking the gardens and creek, and all the mod-cons to keep ‘I do’ running smoothly, including air conditioning, a PA system, and adjustable lighting. And you can keep the good times flowing at the estate’s elegant, architecturally designed reception space, The Pavilion (check it out, the chandeliers are a dream!).

2. Daydream Island, The Whitsundays

Asking about an island chapel? Step this way. Daydream Island Resort and Living Reef has its own stunning wedding chapel on the southwest side, right at the water’s edge. A floor-to-ceiling glass wall at the altar frames panoramic views over the Whitsunday Passage, and contemporary, inbuilt pews offer seating for up to 40 guests (with standing room for an extra 20). In a word: dreamy. Celebrate beyond ‘we do’ with a tropical wedding weekend or week enjoying this private beachfront estate and its surrounding wonders with your nearest and dearest. If you’re planning a wedding in The Whitsundays, Daydream’s wedding packages are brimming with inclusions and well worth a look.

Country wedding dreams? Bring them to life at White Chapel Kalbar (just over an hour from Brisbane) where an historic church has been transformed into one of Queensland’s most beautiful and awarded wedding chapels. Original timber floors, ornate iron chandeliers and white bentwood chairs set a romantic scene with a gothic, back-lit altar to frame your vows. The chapel is fully air-conditioned, comes with the latest PA sound system, and includes a hidden door to the pre-ceremony ‘partner’s reception area’ overlooking the gardens. Love that! Wedding packages offer a ceremony-only option — but we highly recommend strolling over to a barn-style reception at the venue’s Black Hall for private dining and cosy fireside toasts.

4. The Prideaux Estate, Sunshine Coast Hinterland

Celebrate your most heartfelt wedding moments tucked away in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland at The Prideaux Estate. This romantic and ultra-private ceremony destination offers 35 acres of lush, sprawling grounds and an elegant, purpose-built white timber chapel adorned with large arch windows. Antique wooden pews create an intimate setting for your vows, while the integrated sound system ensures your wedding soundtrack hits all the right notes. Beyond the chapel doors, gorgeous gardens and hidden treasures (look out for the duck pond and rowboat) are ideal for a leisurely photocall. Ceremony packages include full-day exclusive use, with the option of a drinks package for cocktail hour. It’s a must-see for your Sunshine Coast ceremony and is just a short drive from the Sunshine Coast beaches.

5. High Church, Brisbane

Considering an inner-city Brisbane ceremony? See heritage-listed High Church, a Fortitude Valley landmark for over 150 years and perfect for a non-denominational Brisbane wedding with plenty of atmosphere. The Church’s airy white interior and signature stained-glass windows set the scene while vaulted ceilings, glittering chandeliers, and polished floorboards offer a sense of occasion. Pre- and post-festivities can spill out to the Rooftop Terrace, with the Story Bridge behind you and buzzing Brunswick Street below, or head downstairs to the street-level gallery reception space. You know your after-party is sorted in this neck of the woods!

6. Alamanda Chapel, Palm Cove

One of a kind in Australia, the beachfront Alamanda Great Barrier Reef Chapel immediately evokes those easy-breezy holiday wedding vibes. Nestled amongst the swaying palms and private grounds of the Alamanda Palm Cove by Lancemore resort (also home to the celebrated Queensland restaurant, Nu Nu), this purpose-built ceremony chapel provides privacy and panoramic views over Palm Cove Beach and the dazzling Coral Sea. Inside is a thoughtfully crafted space featuring natural materials and timbers, classic styling, and an airy, tropical feel. When it comes to Queensland wedding chapels, this one spells tropical romance.

7. Abbey Boutique Hotel, Warwick

Love that fairytale feel? We’ve found it in the country town of Warwick (around two hours from Brisbane) at the historic Abbey Boutique Hotel. Built in the 1880s, this privately owned sandstone manor house has the grand feel of a castle and comes complete with its own intimate and characterful chapel. Celebrate ‘I do’ with up to 40 of your favourite people (or 70 with a mix of seating and standing), then explore the picture-perfect grounds for photos and post-ceremony toasts. And there’s no need to travel once you arrive, as the Abbey offers reception dining and bed-and-breakfast accommodation for up to 34. It’s Bridgerton vibes with a dash of Queensland country charm.

8. The Chapel Montville, Sunshine Coast Hinterland

For a magical Queensland wedding chapel with a real artisan feel, see The Chapel Montville. This piece of architectural art was lovingly constructed using traditional techniques and natural materials, from stunning Helidon sandstone and polished onyx to the red cedar ‘Tree of Life’ doors hand-carved by a local artist. Creator Rounvenne Geijl dedicated the chapel to the animals (look out for them carved into the cedar pews) in a nod to Saint Francis: patron saint of ecology and animals. Poised on the edge of the Blackall Range escarpment with breathtaking coastal views, this is a unique non-denominational setting for a Sunshine Coast wedding.

9. Pioneer Country, Tweed/Gold Coast region

With rustic and farm weddings on the radar for many couples, we just had to highlight Pioneer Country. Just a smidge over the Queensland/NSW border, this exclusive-use wedding venue is set amongst 170 scenic acres of rolling hills and lush working farmland with a romantic, plantation-style chapel. Bringing a crowd? No problem, as the chapel’s antique pews offer comfy seating for 120, and the lattice side walls open out to give up to 300 guests a view of ‘we do’. Head on to a barn-style reception in the restaurant where recycled 100-year-old beams, classic punkah fans and wood-burning fireplaces create a memorable country wedding mood.

10. St Mary’s By The Sea, Port Douglas

The iconic St Mary’s By the Sea chapel in Port Douglas

If you’re planning a wedding in Port Douglas (and why wouldn’t you, it’s glorious up here!), the region’s most iconic chapel can be found right on the shoreline. St Mary’s By The Sea was originally built in 1880 and fully restored in 1988 after moving to this tropical beachfront location. The stained-glass windows and wooden pews create a timeless mood, while the huge altar window offers breathtaking tropical views of the beach, mountains, and shimmering Coral Sea. Our favourite feature? The church bell can ring on your wedding day! Celebrate at the beachfront Sugar Wharf right next door, or head into town for a restaurant reception at one of Port’s many top-notch dining destinations.
