Hosted on a friend’s 100-acre lychee farm, this gorgeous central Queensland wedding was packed full of love and brimming with beautiful rural backdrops. Andie and Jamie created an intimate, family-focused event that included their two adorable children and a sentimental aisle arrival with the bride’s dad and two brothers. The couple even gave guests the option to camp overnight so they could relax and “make as much noise as they wanted.” Nice one!

We asked Andie to share the details of her country Queensland wedding …

QB: How did you meet?
I’m a nurse and Jamie is a paramedic and, ironically, we met in the emergency department at hospital in 2018!

QB: Tell us about your lives together?
Jamie and I have two beautiful babies Lily (two years) and Noah (seven months). I am a stay-at-home mum while Jamie works 8/6 in a rural country town. Our home is our favourite restaurant and our happy place. We live on a beautiful one-acre block with three dogs and one chicken.

QB: Make us laugh, make us cry. Who proposed to who and how?
Jamie proposed to me around the fire in our backyard while the babies where asleep. He made a roast dinner and bought a gorgeous bottle of red wine. I had my suspicions but wasn’t 100% sure until he got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him.

QB: How & why did you choose your venue?
Our venue was a friend’s farm near Yeppoon, located on 100 acres with lychee vineyards and secret dams. It is honestly our favourite place to visit!

Tell us about your wedding style …
Our style was a garden/barn wedding. We wanted people to be able to camp the night, bring their families and make as much noise as they wanted. We wanted to be comfortable and for our guests to be able to choose to camp or pay for accommodation.

QB: Where did you find your gorgeous gown?
My dress was a one-of-a-kind from Mason Bridal Boutique. An A-line, chiffon skirt with bell sleeves. I wanted something comfortable and something I wouldn’t feel pressured about losing my baby weight in. It was perfect.

QB: Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a bit different?
Obviously we aren’t very traditional, having kids before being married. But for something a little different, it was really important that my dad and both of my brothers walked me down the aisle. My dad walked me halfway and handed me over to my brother and my brothers then handed me over to Jamie. All these men are so important to me, I wanted them all to be involved.

QB: Any special vendor shout-outs?
Our photographer ‘Photography by Bree’ was incredible! She made everyone feel so comfortable in front of the camera, which made the results amazing! Jamie and I are quite introverted, and she managed to make the whole experience so much fun!

QB: Any words of wisdom for other couples?
Our advice would be get married before having kids 😂 It makes the whole experience just a little less stressful, haha.

QB: What does marriage mean to you?
Marriage to us means the last chapter of making us a united family unit. We have our beautiful little family and now we are married, honestly not much has changed but we all share the same last name! We are finally one ❤.
