Wedding date: 6 July 2019 // Number of guests: 95

No amount of wet weather could dampen the stylish celebration of Britt and Isaac held at the hilltop Flaxton Gardens wedding venue in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

QB: All good love stories start somewhere; tell us how and when you met:
We met each other while both travelling on a Topdeck tour in Europe; I was there for my 21st birthday celebration and Isaac was on leave from his Army deployment. We shared our first kiss in Florence (we were lost on our return from a Karaoke evening in which Isaac had sung “I Want It That Way” by the Backstreet Boys), and we then enjoyed a second, more romantic, kiss on a picnic under the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Oh, la, la!

QB: Tell us about your lives together …
On returning home to Australia, we started a long-distance relationship which we endured for two years before Isaac and his cat finally moved full-time to Brisbane. And, with cause for celebration, we immediately adopted another cat! We still both have a love of travelling so we try to keep ticking things off our bucket list whilst living our busy lives together.

QB: Make us laugh, make us cry: who proposed to who, and how?
Isaac surprised me with a sunrise-proposal at Byron Bay lighthouse on the first morning of 2018!  It was so romantic – even with a motza of people present as part of a Yoga Festival which we were both unaware of was on until we were there! As the sun rose through the clouds, Isaac said to me, “I got you a present,” and then proceeded to open a little box and asked me to marry him! I am not a diamond-ring kind-of-girl, so I was extra surprised that he had designed a Marquise-cut Ceylon Sapphire ring with a diamond halo. It is simply perfect!

QB: What does marriage mean to you?
Our marriage means our commitment to one another and enjoying, living and loving our life together. We wanted our family and friends to celebrate our love and commitment.

QB: How and why did you choose your venue?
As soon as we saw Flaxton Gardens, we knew it was the place for us. It has an amazing view, a beautiful ceremony location and reception space – and it meant we could host our wedding in one place. Owners, Mariana and Alan, are the loveliest couple to work with and they helped with all of the details of the whole day

QB: What was the inspiration behind your wedding style??
Simple was the theme of our day.  We gathered lots of inspiration together via Pinterest and everything just seemed to fall into place with our decorations and styling. We also made our own stationery.

QB: Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?
We chose to cut our cake immediately following our ceremony and served it to our guests at cocktail hour with the canapes. This proved a great decision as it meant that we shared in the eating experience with our guests, and we got some great photos due to the beautiful afternoon light.

QB: Were there any standout suppliers
As mentioned above, Mariana, Alan and the whole Flaxton Gardens team went over and above to ensure a seamless day regardless of the rainy weather. Our photographer was also wonderful and had so many ideas for photos which really captured the emotion of our day.

QB: Do you have any words of wisdom to offer other couples?
I think its important to really be in the moment for the ceremony, I was so nervous and excited I just wanted to speed it up and be married already – but the ceremony was absolutely our most favourite and special part of the day. We wish we could live it over again!

Where did you honeymoon?
We chose to spend a relaxing week as husband and wife in Noosa which was a perfect follow-on from our celebration.
