Wedding: Jessika + Christopher - Queensland Brides

Wedding: Jessika + Christopher

Jessika and Christopher Entangled Events

These high school sweethearts realised their dream wedding, creating a relaxed yet unforgettable cocktail-style wedding at a one-of-kind venue in the Moreton Bay Hinterland region. With beautiful bursts of bold colour permeating their celebration, it was an event that truly reflected their personalities.

QB: All good love stories start somewhere; tell us how and when you met:

We met at High School, where all the best love stories begin!

QB: Tell us about your lives together:

We love sharing our lives together. We both work full time in very different industries, but outside of work, we love nothing more than travel, weekend getaways, spending time with our friends and family. Our family and friends are very special to us, so you’ll usually find us spending any spare time with them.

QB: What does marriage mean to you?

Marriage is getting to support and spend the rest of your life with your favourite person. It’s being there for each other through all of the fun times and the difficult times. It’s making the most of situations and loving each other unconditionally.

QB: Make us laugh, make us cry: who proposed to who, and how?

Chris proposed to me! It was my birthday, and we went away for the weekend, where he proposed at one of my favourite places in Noosa. It was absolutely amazing, and I couldn’t wait to share the news with our friends and family (most knew it was going to happen that weekend, so they had to act surprised!). Chris proposed with a ring he had designed all by himself, with many backwards and forwards emails and photos to our amazing jeweller (and one of our best friends), along with other friends sneakily taking my jewellery for ring sizing purposes.

QB: How and why did you choose your venues?

We were after a venue that had character and suited our personalities. Entangled Events at Dayboro was the perfect location for us. It offered us the opportunity to have our ceremony and reception in the same location, close to Brisbane, and had its own unique charm that other venues didn’t offer.

QB: What was the inspiration behind your wedding style?

We are very much a roll-with-the-tide couple, and our wedding was a reflection of that. We had a cocktail reception with our nearest and dearest, with an emphasis on lots of vibrant colours in the style and decor. We wanted our family and friends to relax, and everything came together so well (despite our wedding being right among COVID restrictions).

QB: Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?

Neither of us is one for following the rules too much. We decided we wanted to have photos together prior to our ceremony, which we planned early on in our overall planning. However, when it came time to walk down the aisle, it was as though we hadn’t seen each other only 30 minutes before – the emotion was unreal.

QB: Were there any standout suppliers?

All of our vendors were amazing. We were able to incorporate two of our best friends into our wedding, despite having no bridal party – our jeweller, Danica from Nique Jewellery, who custom created our engagement rings and wedding bands, is one of our oldest and dearest school friends and our florist, Bridie from Blooms by Bridie, who we also went to school with, was able to make the day come together just how we imagined. It was so lovely to have two of our best friends so heavily involved in such memorable parts of our day. Chris’ sister was our hairdresser, his other sister, our Barber and Jess’ sister was our very talented makeup artist.

QB: Do you have any words of wisdom to offer other couples?

The night goes by so fast! You think you have all the time in the world, but before you know it, it’s the first dance, followed by cake cutting – make sure you take the time to enjoy it all.

QB: Did you (or will you) enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?

We were able to head away for a few nights after our wedding, although COVID put a stop (for now) to our Thailand honeymoon. Hopefully, we can kick start those plans again soon and enjoy that time.
