This couple’s love story actually began with someone else’s. First meeting at their mutual friends’ engagement party, Shannon and Matthew noticed a connection pretty quickly. “The minute we first met at the engagement party, I knew he was the one for me,” remembers Shannon. It seems she was on to something, with the two going on to fall in love and become engaged on a romantic trip to the Whitsundays. Blessed with perfect sunshine, they decided to go kayaking when Matthew gave Shannon a very sweet surprise. “He grabbed my kayak and pulled it close to his, and then pulled out a ring box! My initial thought was ‘Where on earth did he pull that from?’. Of course, I said yes and then I told him to quickly put it on before he droped it in the ocean!” Thank heavens Matthew has good balance!
With the ring safely on her finger, Shannon tied the knot with Matthew in a beautiful hinterland wedding some time later. Saying “I do” with magnificent valley views at New South Wales’s Summergrove Estate, the two went on to have photos taken in the venue’s gorgeous grounds and toast the occasion with guests. A laid-back reception under the stars was a hit with loved ones, topping off a spectacular day. “We’re both very relaxed and easy-going people, so we just wanted a wedding that was simple and effortless,” says Shannon.”It was an incredible day, better than we could have imagined!”
