Fortitude Valley’s Cloudland is many things: theatrical, boldly designed, unmistakably Brisbane. But modest isn’t one of them. For Tea and Angus, that was exactly the point. With a labyrinth of dramatic spaces, soaring ceilings, and botanical drama, it just needed two people who knew how to fill it with love and laughter. This couple had that covered.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Angus proposed the way the two of them do most things: on their own terms. No grand gestures, no audiences, no orchestrated moments. Just the two of them at home, in their own living room, in the quiet that only the people who know you best can offer. It was, as Tea describes it, exactly the way she had hoped to share that moment with him. Intimate, private, and entirely theirs
THE VENUE
When Tea and Angus first walked through Cloudland’s spaces in the daytime, the lights were off, and the rooms were empty. They booked it anyway. That kind of confidence in a venue says everything. What drew them in was the sheer variety of it: a ceremony on the sun-drenched Terrace, cocktail hour in the glamorous Mezz Bar, and a reception in the Rose Room, a space so beautiful it barely needs decoration. Three distinct rooms, each with its own personality, each utterly breathtaking. Sixty-eight guests moved through them throughout the day, and not one needed a program to know this was something special.
THE DETAILS
Styling was handled by Cloudland’s preferred supplier, Main Event Weddings, whose stylist, Mariah, has the kind of deep familiarity with the venue that only comes from years of working within its walls. Knowing exactly how each space catches light, where the eye naturally travels, and which design choices will sing against Cloudland’s architectural backdrop, she brought Tea and Angus’s vision to life with confidence and precision. The florals were a considered mix of fresh and artificial blooms, a smart call that delivered the lush, layered look they were after without stretching the budget, and honestly? No one could tell the difference.
Tea’s hair and makeup were in the hands of Isabelle Pacaud, whose work complemented the venue’s contemporary polish beautifully. Whip Cakes delivered the cake, and photographer Shanice Noa of Love by Lee Photography captured the day, with a calm, easy presence that put the couple at ease from the first frame to the last.
If there was one area Tea and Angus were happy to spend on, it was the food and beverage. Cloudland’s catering delivered in every sense, and the cocktails were, by Tea’s own admission, dangerously good. There were a few sore heads the morning after — and no regrets! Tea’s advice for other couples? “On the day, relax and put your trust in your vendors. They are the experts in their field and will make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. It really does go so quickly.”
THE TEAM BEHIND IT
Event coordinators Jenna and Lennie from Cloudland’s in-house team ran the day with the quiet efficiency guests rarely notice but always feel. Every detail landed on time, every transition was seamless, and the Cloudland staff’s service was, by all accounts, something else entirely. Guests were still talking about it long after the night was over. Celebrant Steven Fleming, known to his couples as @thatcelebrantguy, brought a warmth and groundedness to the ceremony that set the tone for everything that followed.
