Anna + Zac: unique antique

A gorgeous antique emerald ring that once belonged to the bride’s great grandmother, the view from Mount Tamborine lookout and a few nerves – the only other thing Zac Sayers needed to complete the perfect marriage proposal was a “Yes!” from his long-standing girlfriend, Anna Carkeet. Happily, she obliged.

Knowing that there’s nothing quite as romantic as that first look between a bride and groom on their wedding day, Anna and Zac decided to capture this moment forever with a ‘first look photo session’ before their wedding. Anna in her gown, Zac in his suit and a few butterflies in both their stomachs, they headed to Eagle Farm Race Club where they would later have their reception, to take the perfect snapshots and reflect on the meaning of the day to come: the love between the two of them.

On their actual big day, the couple was wed at St Agatha’s Church in Brisbane, honouring Anna’s parents who were also married there. Like many couples, Anna and Zac wanted to pay tribute to their family throughout the wedding proceedings: in addition to following this lovely tradition for the ceremony, photos of their parents’ and grandparents’ weddings were on prominent display at the happy couple’s cocktail-style reception at Eagle Farm Race Club. There were plenty of lovely old-school touches as well: “My friends and I collected crystal vases from op shops to decorate the tables at the reception,” says Anna.

Celebrations continued on well into the night, with a live band, vibrant party atmosphere and lots of dancing.  “We had the absolute best day,” says Anna.
