Wedding date: 9th September 2021 // Number of guests: 45

From meeting in their last year of high school and dating from 19 to purchasing and sharing their coastal abode with their daughter on the Sunshine Coast, Renee and Adam knew their relationship was one for the history books. And, so when their intimate wedding celebration at Hideaway Weddings finally arrived (yes, after a COVID-19 postponement, of course!), to say it was the incredible day they’d always dreamed of is quite the understatement.

QB: What does marriage mean to you?

Marriage is getting to share your life with your best friend forever! It’s finding that one person that gets to know all of you and loves every part of you no matter what.

QB: Make us laugh, make us cry: who proposed to who, and how?

It was the 25th of November 2018; we had just moved house to a property one street back from the beach in Point Cartwright. Adam had convinced me to get up at sunrise after a very full-on few days of moving house. I was so tired and tried everything to persuade him to stay in bed. I had no idea what he had planned! We walked down to the beach, and I was staring out, watching the sunrise while Adam set everything up. When I turned around, he was on one knee with our Labrador Jasper beside him and asked me to marry him! [Coincidentally, 12 months later to the day, I went into labour and had our daughter one day later on the 26th of November 2019].

QB: How and why did you choose your venues?

Quite honestly, while the venue is an incredible location, the Hideaway Weddings team was the clincher to our decision in selecting to marry here. With their stellar help with all details from start to finish, we felt as though this remarkable group of people cared about our special day as much we did, which made our whole experience that much more special!

QB: What was the inspiration behind your wedding style?

The whole day carried a vibe of relaxation, which was authentic to us and reflected who we were as a couple. We chose a cocktail style setting so that everyone could mingle and sit wherever without the pressure of dealing with seating charts and a bridal table which worked perfectly for us. I knew straight up that I wanted orchids incorporated into the floral arrangements as they are my mother’s favourite flowers. And, as pink and neutral tones are my favourite, the colour palette formed to include these shades throughout our styling elements! The groomsmen were in lightly coloured two-toned suits, which is usually typical of the groom, but we loved how much Adam stood out in the darker suit jacket with the boys.

My Madi Lane bridal gown (ELORA) was my dream dress! I purchased it two years before we got married due to having to postpone because of COVID-19, and I was so worried that by the time our big day came about, I would not feel the same about my choice. However, it was perfect! I was able to wear it three different ways on the day; off the shoulder, on the shoulder with straps, and as a strapless number. I felt the most beautiful I’ve ever felt!

For the four most important girls in my life, we chose Luv bridal bridesmaid dresses. I wanted them to style their dress the way they wanted, bringing their own personality through the day, which worked out perfectly.

QB: Did you incorporate any traditions or perhaps do something a little different?

With our cruisey go-with-the-flow attitude, it perfectly suited us that our little girl played at our feet during the ceremony and then had the option of running around all day.

QB: Do you have any words of wisdom to offer other couples?

Try not to get caught up in making your day perfect for everyone else; this day is all about you and your love for each other! Dance, have fun and enjoy every minute of it (it goes quick!).

QB: Were there any standout suppliers?

My engagement ring was made by local jewellers Taylor’s Fine Sapphires, who mine and facet their sapphires (and who happen to be my very talented father-and-mother-in-law!).

QB: What were the highlights of your day for you? (Renee)

Walking down that aisle to Adam and finally getting to say my vows to him! Having our daughter sitting at our feet and just feeling like we were finally officially our own little Taylor family

QB: What were the highlights of your day for you? (Adam)

Seeing my little girl walk down the aisle knowing that her mother wasn’t going to be far behind. Such a special day made even more magical by the staff of Hideaway Weddings.

QB: Did you (or will you) enjoy a honeymoon? If so, how and why did you choose your destination?

Not yet, but once Australian travel is a little less restricted, we’ll head to either Tasmania or Perth.
