Wedding + Engagement Rings: Stories | Gallery | Vendors

Have you ever wondered why we wear wedding rings on the ‘ring’ finger of the second hand? Well, as it happens, it was, in fact, the Egyptians who believed that this finger enclosed a special vein that was connected directly to the heart (the “Vena amoris”) and it has, therefore, become the designated position to show the symbol of eternal love. Awww!

Of course, all of the excitement of a wedding begins with the receiving of an engagement ring. In Australia and most western cultures, it is custom for only the girl to wear an engagement ring, and, although there has been a ‘man-gagement’ movement of recent times, this tradition still holds true.

Whether you choose a classic diamond wedding ring or go outside the box with a variety of colours and cuts, one thing is for certain – you need a wedding ring that’s exactly you. And, with today’s technology advancements – like mind-blowing 3D printers – there is no reason not to have a ring that is customised perfectly to you. One thing is for certain, you want to have that ring sparkling and shining for all to inspect.

Of course, diamonds are a girl’s best friend, but that is no reason for us not to be crushing on alternative engagement rings with stones of all different colours and shapes.
