Guys: ready to get aisle-ready? We had a chat with Jaimieson Warner at Studio 196 Designer Menswear about the fashion trends grooms are embracing in 2016. Check out what he had to say below.
QB: WHAT’S REALLY POPULAR IN GROOMS’ FASHION RIGHT NOW?
“Blue, blue and blue! Any shade, but particularly royal and cobalt, with a paisley or floral tie, and a light tan shoe and belt added to avoid the corporate look. The black tuxedo is an eternal favourite, and thanks to Daniel Craig as 007, the midnight blue dinner suit has gained real momentum.”
QB: WHAT TRENDS DO YOU EXPECT TO EMERGE IN THE COMING YEAR?
“Blue will continue to be strong, with more offerings in the paler spectrum and a cheeky emergence of the checked patterned suit.”
QB: SUPERB TAILORING IS OBVIOUSLY KEY TO A GREAT SUIT – IS THE SLIMMER SILHOUETTE STILL TRENDING?
“Slim lines still rule the world of suiting – and long may they reign. The aesthetic can be enhanced with daring shirt-and-tie combos, a mismatched-but-just-right pocket square and, dare I even suggest, statement socks.”
QB: ARE MOST OF THE GROOMS YOU SEE STILL LEANING TOWARDS FORMAL STYLING?
“They’re opting for the formal look, but having fun with it. So we’re seeing brighter colours and lighter fabrics, including cottons and linen that perfectly suit (pun very much intended) Queensland’s tropical climate.”
QB: WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS FOR LOOKING POLISHED DURING THE ENTIRE WEDDING?
“Wedding parties in 2016 have been some of the most sartorially aware and stylish that we’ve ever encountered. The three-piece suit has been embraced: a waistcoat adds a classical touch and allows the guys to maintain a dressy look when the jacket comes off at the reception.”
QB: WHO’S THE ONE CELEBRITY YOU’D MOST LIKE TO DRESS?
