Tips + Advice // by QB

You’d have to be living in exile to not know that the Royal Wedding is just around the corner (May 19, guys!). Whether you’re a die-hard monarchist or you find it totally cheesy (but still totally fabulous), gather your bride tribe and enjoy the festivities with these special celebrations happening in Queensland…

The dress… the A-list guests… the splendour of the event – you can marvel at it all on the big screen at Brisbane’s old-world Elizabeth Picture Theatre. Screening the event live in their elegant Harp Room, the theatre will top it all off with canapés and bubbles. One approves.

QTea Royal Wedding High Tea, Gold Coast (May 18 – 20)
We can’t help but feel like royalty whenever we (occasionally) indulge in high tea, so it’s a natural fit for a royal wedding! A winner for decadent dining, QT Gold Coast is hosting a special QTea Royal Wedding High Tea that’s just as grand as you’d expect. After walking down a red carpet (with guards on post, no less), guests will be treated to delicate morsels like savoury beetroot and goats cheese macarons, petite sandwiches and confit duck brioche. Sweet-tooths, there’s also chocolate layered popsicles and meringues with lemon curd, plus the classic British tipple-of-choice, Pimms cocktails. Yes, please.

Royal wedding at Treasury Brisbane, Brisbane (May 19)
Want more high tea? Treasury Brisbane is celebrating the big event with (you guessed it) high tea, plus Chandon Champagne, Tanqueray spritzes and Pimms cocktails – perfect for toasting the couple as they tie the knot on the big screen!

Right Royal Event, QCWA Mackay, Mackay (May 19)
Aw, we love the Queensland Country Women’s Association! If you’re up north, support the wonderful ladies and head along to their super-sweet Right Royal Event at their Mackay Branch. Putting on a high tea (with plenty of country hospitality!), they’ll also be giving out prizes for the best-dressed guests. Yes, tiaras, crowns and wedding dresses are encouraged. To RSVP, call Robyn on 0448 585 730 by May 17.

Or… just watch at home in these Meghan-approved slippers
If it’s just a little too chilly to go outside or you’re having a lazy day (we wouldn’t blame you), keep things still totally luxe and don these babies (pictured above) while you watch the wedding on tellie. A favourite with the bride-to-be, glamorous slipper designer Birdies has designed a pair of custom bridal slippers just for Meghan… and you can get them too! Made from plush velvet and satin, the Songbird slipper would make us feel like a Duchess when doing sweet nothing at home!
