There’s exciting news out of Fiji this week, with Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa officially opening its brand-new convention centre and event precinct, marking a welcome addition for couples dreaming of a destination wedding with extra flexibility and flair.
Queensland Brides publisher Nikki Ernst attended the gala launch of the Crowne Convention Centre (CCC) on Saturday night, joining more than 250 guests for an evening officiated by Hon. Filimoni Vosarogo, Acting Prime Minister, who spoke about the centre’s impact on tourism and local employment.

“You could really feel the excitement in the air about the opportunities this new centre brings,” Nikki said. “We were originally set to enjoy cocktail hour on the lawn, but an afternoon deluge of rain saw the event move into one of the smaller function rooms (a great reminder of just how useful wet-weather options can be!). From there, the opening ceremony kicked off in the centre foyer before guests flowed into the large exhibition space for a night of entertainment and canapés in a lively, standing cocktail-style format. The atmosphere was buzzing, and it was such a thrill to see the centre come to life.” The celebrations continued at the resort’s Urban Sugar Beach Club, ending with a spectacular fireworks display over the beach.

The project, which began in early 2024, has now added a significant new dimension to the resort’s wedding and event offerings. It also strengthens Wailoaloa Beach’s position as a rising destination, providing an appealing alternative to Denarau with the added convenience of being just minutes from the airport.
And, while Crowne Plaza Fiji has hosted weddings in the past, primarily on its idyllic beachfront lawn and in spaces such as La Bottega, Harvest, Latitude Bar & Lounge, and Urban Sugar Beach Club, the new convention centre elevates what the resort can offer moving forward. Its huge pillarless ballroom, mid-sized venues, and flexible breakout rooms give couples even more freedom to shape a complete wedding program. From welcome events and receptions to sangeet nights, mehndi celebrations, after-parties, and more, the centre is purpose-built for multi-day celebrations and cultural weddings that traditionally require generous capacity, including Fijian-Indian, Asian, and extended-family weddings.

After experiencing the resort’s famous Fijian hospitality over three nights, Nikki said, “Spending time at Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa gave me a real sense of how beautifully the resort works for a full wedding weekend or a longer celebration. With its new convention centre, beachfront setting, range of accommodation options, varied dining experiences, and fun extras like the beach club, the resort has really strengthened its proposition as a destination wedding venue that suits all styles. It’s ideal for couples wanting convenience, versatility, and an all-in-one setting where every part of the celebration — before, during and after the wedding — can feel seamless and memorable.”
