Indagare Natural Beauty

PSA: The Australian cruelty-free, organic skincare line you need to know about

Hair + Beauty // by QB

Okay, we’ll be honest – sometimes we can be a little lazy when it comes to keeping up a skincare routine (does using makeup remover count as cleansing?). So when we came across a skincare line that was all about enhancing natural beauty, supporting women and keeping things as fuss-free as possible, we couldn’t help but do a little happy dance.

Introducing… Indagare Natural Beauty, the Brisbane-based skincare line you seriously need to know about. To find out a little bit more about this incredible line, we talked to the brains (and beauty) behind Indagare, Tanya Joslin.

Indagare Illumino Youth Serum and Rose & Neroli Luxury Body Scrub

Let’s get straight to it – tell us about Indagare…
“Basically, we’re all about natural skincare that really works. Our main focus is on luxury, cruelty-free face oils, made with predominantly certified ingredients and nothing artificial. We also sell a beautiful organic body scrub, nourishing hair oil, two gorgeous clay masks to detoxify and exfoliate, and accessories like konjac sponges and jade rollers for people to create a real at-home spa experience.”

What is your most popular product?
“Our Illumino Youth Serum is incredibly popular and it’s perfect for brides in the lead-up to their special day as it has this remarkable ability to give skin an incredible healthy glow! It uses 100% certified-organic prickly pear seed oil ethically sourced in rural Morocco (as well as organic neroli and geranium). Prickly pear seed oil is actually cactus oil and it is known to help soothe inflammation, stimulate collagen production, even skin tone and reduce under-eye dark circles. It’s really simple to use – four to six drops pressed into your face and neck before applying moisturiser is all you need.”

We’re in love! Tell us more about this cool prickly pear seed oil – sounds like sorcery!
“It does, right? Rare and highly prized, the oil is derived from the prickly pear cactus and is one of the most remarkable in the beauty world. It’s also one of the most expensive to source, thanks to an incredibly labour-intensive production process and the fact that it takes nearly 30 kilograms of seeds to produce just one litre of oil. Proven to deeply nourish skin and soften wrinkles due to its high levels of lineolic acid, it also stimulates new cell growth, calms inflammation, helps restore elasticity.

Perhaps its most remarkable ability is how it brightens skin, thanks to it being extremely rich in vitamins E and K, essential fatty acids and antioxidants. Basically, it has all the good stuff. The oil is fast absorbing (keeping things really fuss-free and easy to use under makeup), beautifully lightweight and is unparalleled in its ability to brighten the appearance of skin.”

Where do you source your prickly pear seed oil from?
“I’d read a lot about the oil over the past year and it sounded amazing – particularly for someone like myself who was struggling with acne and the signs of ageing! It sounded truly magical, but the ones I’d tested here in Australia weren’t really leaving me overwhelmed.

As with everything, I’d already learned there is a massive range in quality with beauty oils, and logically I figured I hadn’t quite found the standard of prickly pear seed oil that I was reading about. So, we turned to Morocco and tested three potential partners there. Each one got better, and then our final trial resulted in us seeing the ‘magical glow’ I’d read so much about prickly pear seed oil offering.  This is now what our Illumino Youth Serum is centred around – pure, certified organic prickly pear seed oil.

We work with small cooperatives in rural Morocco, where much-needed jobs are being created. When you consider how this feeds down into the community with schooling and healthcare, and essential services some of the benefits, it makes the decision to continue supporting a business model like that even more important in our point of view.”

We love that you support small communities with your business! Can you please tell us a little bit more about this?
“We think it’s essential that the women working in oil-producing co-operatives receive a fair wage to make the income they need for them and their families to survive. This is why we chose a partner in Morocco who has been recognised for their business model, supporting these rural communities, ensuring much-needed jobs are created and an essential economic model has a chance to develop. It gives us peace of mind, and we hope it gives our clients some too.”
