Wedding Reception

Perfect Place: Sky Room & Terrace

Looking for the perfect reception venue? We quizzed QB readers Rosie and Oliver on why they chose their venue and why they loved it!

What we loved about the venue… we’ll never forget walking into the room during our first visit and seeing the amazing view from the terrace. We were sold! Knowing the number of events BCEC hosts every year, we knew we’d be in safe hands.

The venue looked amazing when… the sun had set. The city skyline and the Wheel of Brisbane create a view that’s hard to beat.

The food was… delicious and plentiful. The canapés were delicious and the food station allowed guests to choose for themselves when they wanted to have a more substantial bite to eat.

Decorating tips?

The view is so incredible that the terrace needs barely any decorating. Inside the room is a fantastic blank canvas. We were able to use the lighting in the room along with a beautiful combination of linens and centrepieces to match our silver, white and teal theme.

On the day… we were treated like royalty. The bridal party was given a private room to relax in while our guests made their way to the reception, plus a selection of drinks and canapés. The professionalism and helpfulness of all the staff made our night so enjoyable.

The best photo locations around the venue... the view of the city skyline from the terrace makes for a wonderful backdrop. The Brisbane Powerhouse and the antique precinct at Woolloongabba also provided lovely locations for our photos.

Our guests especially enjoyed… the party atmosphere we created. Between the wonderful food, fabulous service and excellent band everyone had a great time. Several guests deemed it to be the best wedding they’d attended!

Three words about the venue? Spectacular, professional, unforgettable.

I will always remember… walking into our reception to see such a beautiful venue full of the people who mean the most to us.

What off-site accommodation was close by?

We stayed at Mantra South Bank, a few doors up from BCEC. Waking up in the heart of South Bank with all the great breakfast options around us was a wonderful way to start married life.
