How did you meet?

We met at a bar in Brisbane. Anthony stopped me as I was walking past and said, ” You are beautiful! Can I have your number?”. At first I was taken back by his confidence, but I thought he was cute so I went ahead and gave it to him.

Tell us about the proposal…

It wasn’t a cliche romantic proposal, but it was typical Anthony style. He took me to a restaurant that of course ended up being closed, so he suggested we go for a walk along the waterfront. A few minutes in, Anthony had pretended to fall over, he then proceeded to get down on one knee and said, ” Will you be my wife?”. I screamed like a little girl, snatched the ring and completely forgot to say “Yes!”.

Why did you choose Queensland State Library for your wedding?

We both decided we wanted a wedding in Brisbane so all of our family and friends could attend and didn’t have to travel far. We looked  at many other locations but nothing compared to the charm of the Queensland Terrace at the Queensland State Library.

What did you do for your hens and bucks?

We each had a party at our house on separate occasion, we were both surrounded by great friends and had a lot of alcohol which is always the perfect equation for a crazy, fun night to remember.

Key Styling Inspiration

Flowers, flowers and more flowers. Our incredible florist, Ginger Lily and Rose was incredibly helpful and inspiring.

What gifts did you give your guests?

Everyone went home with some personalised chocolates, salted caramel and champagne strawberry – absolutely delicious!

Where did you splurge and where did you save on for your wedding?

Anthony’s only request was to have great food and drinks! So that was definitely our splurge. Instead of the traditional entree plate, we opted for big antipasto platters, filled with beautiful cheeses and crisp bread. We saved money when it came to transportation, we didn’t hire cars, just borrowed from family members.

What was the funniest moment from the day?

It’s hard to choose just one, but one my little brother decided to take his clothes off during the song Eagle Rock, everyone was in hysterics. Boys will be boys.

What was the most special memory from the day?

My sisters speech was so beautiful, every time I think about it I love her a little bit more.

Special thanks to…

Julia Hails from Ginger Lily and Rose who was our beautiful florist.

Lucas and Co Photography who are incredibly talented and very cool.

Of course, the bridesmaids and groomsmen and all our lovely family and friends who helped the day run so smoothly.

What did you do for your honeymoon?

We have planned to take our honeymoon later this year but we did have a mini-moon at Noosa. We had lots of yummy food, wine and sunshine which was exactly what we needed post wedding.

Do you have any advice for other brides-to-be?

Little things will always go wrong but don’t let them distract you from why you’re getting married. And a side note for the ladies – bring some dancing flat shoes!
