Real Wedding: Mark and Nicole

QB: How did you meet?

We went to the same high school, but were in different year levels. We met up again through mutual friends later in life, and connected instantly.

QB: Tell us about the proposal.

Mark proposed on our five-year anniversary at Moffat Beach Lookout on the Sunshine Coast. He tricked me into meeting him up there after work, before we went out for dinner. He told me he had locked his keys in his car, and I needed to bring a spare set to him. Mark met me at my car, and walked me over to the lookout, where he dropped to one knee and proposed.

QB: Why did you choose Novotel Twin Waters for your wedding?

The majority of our guests were flying in from Victoria, so we needed a place within close proximity to the Sunshine Coast airport, and where our guests and wedding party could stay for the weekend. We also wanted a venue where we could have the ceremony and reception in the same location.

QB: What did you do for your hen’s and buck’s?

We flew to Melbourne a month before the wedding.

QB: Did you opt to DIY anything for your wedding?

Yes: the invitations, save-the-date cards, take-home cake boxes and decorations for reception and ceremony, such as jars for holding flowers and fans, and also cones for petals.

QB: What was your key styling inspiration?

Most of our inspiration came from looking through bridal magazines. We wanted plenty of flowers and soft pastel colours.

QB: What did you splurge on and what did you save on for your wedding?

We splurged on photography and the honeymoon. We saved by having our wedding on a Sunday.

QB: What was the most special memory from the day?

Reading our vows to each other for the first time in front of all our dearest family and friends.

QB: What did you do for your honeymoon?

We spent a week at the beautiful Tokoriki Island Resort in Fiji.

QB: What advice would you give other brides-to-be?

The day goes by so quickly and before you know it, the big day is over. Try not to get too overwhelmed with everything and everyone else. Remember to stop once in a while to look at your partner and tell them how happy you are.
