For Chanelle and Damien, the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa held special meaning and was the ideal spot to tie the knot on 23 February, 2017. The gorgeous bride shares what she loved about her lagoon-side wedding.

Why did you choose this venue?
“My family and I hold sentimental value to the Marriott, having stayed there every year as I was growing up. Choosing this venue not only brought back plenty of special family memories but also created new and amazing memories with our wedding guests.”
Did the menu influence our decision?
“I had complete faith in knowing the food was not going to disappoint. Our wedding dinner was incredibly delicious and the presentation of the meal was so lovely; that showed how much care and effort was put into a great two-course meal.”
Tell us about your decorations?
“The decorations were amazing. The Resort’s Creative Designer, Sharron Richards, was so wonderful to work with. She delivered exceptional flower bouquets and did a great job incorporating my white and red wedding theme into the ceremony and reception. I couldn’t be happier!”
What’s the most unique thing about the venue?
“I chose to have the ceremony and reception on the stunning outdoor Lagoon Terrace of the Resort. It’s a nostalgic location for my family and I as we would often celebrate my sister’s birthday there growing up and feeding the fish in the mornings!”
Did the venue help resolve any problems or challenges?
“Two days before the wedding, my sister and her husband told me that they were unable to attend. Although I was very disappointed, I informed my amazing wedding planner Sara of the situation, and she quickly reassured me to not worry as she would handle organising seating and everything. Within the same day the issue was resolved and I was so relieved.”
What’s the best piece of advice the venue gave you?
“Our wedding coordinator, Sara, reminded me to stay relaxed and positive. She was so diligent, knowledgeable and excited to be on this wonderful journey with me.”
What’s the one thing you’d tell other couples considering this venue?
“I would definitely recommend this venue to any newly engaged couple. I still, to this day, rave on how amazing and magical my wedding was. It was such a beautiful and effortless experience for me. All of the staff were just outstanding.”
The most memorable feedback from your guests?
“We were all so pleased with how smoothly everything ran on the day, the delicious food, the postcard-ready scenery and the services provided.”
Your most precious memory of the day?
“Our wedding planner, Sara, surprised me with an upgrade to stay in the Presidential Suite on the highest level of the resort on the night of the wedding. I was just lost for words and felt so fortunate and blessed!”
